Jesus is our mediator by Larissa Marie

There are times when we are going through a situation with another person. We may be fighting or arguing with them. We may not be seeing eye to eye. It’s difficult getting your point across and trying to get to a place of reconciliation. Mediators help people who are in conflict find a resolution and come to an agreement. As Christians, Jesus is our mediator.

In the book of Job, Job was in great turmoil and heartbroken because he had lost everything. While responding to a friend, Job says “God is not a mortal like me, so I cannot argue with him or take him to trial. If only there were a mediator between us, someone who could bring us together. The mediator could make God stop beating me, and I would no longer live in terror of his punishment. Then I could speak to him without fear, but I cannot do that in my own strength (Job 9:32-35). Although this event is taking place at a time before Jesus was even born, I recognized it as a foreshadowing of what was to come through Jesus! The mediator we need! A savior! As a Christian, Jesus (our mediator), is the only one that can bring us together with God. Jesus told him, I am the only way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). As Job mentioned, the mediator (Jesus), would make it so that he no longer has to live in terror of Gods punishment. As sinners, we all will be subject to Gods wrath! However, Jesus is the only one that can allow us to have a genuine relationship with God that will deliver us from Gods wrath. This is made possible, because the punishment for our sins fell on Gods son Jesus Christ while on the cross. Since Jesus is our mediator, he took the punishment for us!

I encourage you to allow Jesus to be the mediator between you and God! He is all you need. Then you will be able to speak to God without fear, knowing that Jesus has given you the strength to come to your Heavenly Father.
